Ceci Berman Speaks on Bankruptcy Appeals

Brannock Humphries & Berman shareholder Ceci Berman was a featured panelist at a plenary session of the 46th Annual Alexander L. Paskay Memorial Bankruptcy Seminar, a three-day continuing legal education program presented by the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Stetson University College of Law.

Ceci’s presentation focused on the nuts and bolts of bankruptcy appeals.  Joined by Judge William Jung of the Middle District of Florida, Judge Scott Grossman of Florida’s Southern District Bankruptcy Court, and Fox Rothschild partner Robert Elgidely, the panel discussed strategies for presenting bankruptcy issues on appeal, including procedures, briefs, and oral arguments.  Ceci also highlighted tricky topics like jurisdiction, finality, and mootness.

Held at the Tampa Marriott Water Street, the ABI Paskay Seminar honors the lifetime achievements of the late Bankruptcy Judge Alexander L. Paskay.  The event features some of the biggest names and most accomplished bankruptcy lawyers and judges in Florida talking about current commercial and consumer bankruptcy issues.
