Ceci Berman Participates in Panel Discussion for Smith Inn of Court
Brannock Humphries & Berman managing shareholder Ceci Berman was one of four appellate lawyers who presented at this month’s meeting of the Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Litigation American Inn of Court in Tampa.
Each month, one of the Inn’s pupillage groups puts on a continuing legal education program of interest to the membership. The topic of this month’s presentation was “Last Things First: What Your Appellate Attorney Wants You to Know.” Along with Thomas Burns, Matthew Conigliaro, and Dineen Wasylik, Ceci discussed everything from how to preserve error for appeal to the differences between appellate work and trial work to how much an appeal costs.
Established in 2014, the Smith Inn of Court continues in the tradition of America’s other Inns, which aim to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills. Named for former ABA president William Reece Smith, Jr.—the only American lawyer to serve as president of a local, state, national, and international bar association—it is one of the few Inns throughout the country that meets over lunchtime rather than in the evening, an idea spearheaded by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody when she was a circuit judge in Hillsborough County.
