Ceci Berman Appointed As Vice Chair Of Florida’s Civil Procedure Rules Committee
Brannock & Humphries shareholder Ceci Berman has been named Vice Chair of the prestigious committee that is responsible for proposing amendments to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
The Florida Rules of Civil Procedure are the procedural rules governing most civil actions brought in Florida’s trial courts. Although the Florida Supreme Court exercises the ultimate authority to amend those rules, the Court typically does not consider requests on its own initiative. Rather, a committee of attorneys and judges with extensive experience are appointed by the President of the Florida Bar to review and debate potential revisions to the rules and to make proposals for the Court to adopt.
Ms. Berman was first appointed to the Civil Procedure Rules Committee in 2016 and was recently reappointed to a second consecutive three-year term. She currently serves as Secretary of the Committee and as Chair of the Drafting Subcommittee. She will now assume a senior leadership role as a Vice Chair of the full forty-six-member Committee as she begins her second term in June.
Brannock & Humphries proudly supports Ms. Berman’s efforts to continue to improve the practice of law in Florida’s courts through her leadership roles on the Civil Procedure Rules Committee.
