Brannock & Humphries Snags Three Spots On List Of Top 10 Verdicts Of 2018
The list of the most significant verdicts won by plaintiffs in Florida during the 2018 calendar year has been released, and Brannock & Humphries played a role in three of the top nine.
Coming in at number four on the list was a $41,965,000 verdict, including both compensatory and punitive damages, obtained in a tobacco trial in Broward County. Brannock & Humphries provided support to the trial team of Alex Alvarez, Gary Paige, Phil Holden, and Michael Alvarez and is currently defending against the cigarette company’s appeal to the Fourth DCA.
At number eight on the list was a products liability case involving a Ford van rollover after a tire blowout, in which Brannock & Humphries also provided extensive trial support, including arguing pre-trial motions, jury instructions, and post-trial issues. The Pasco County jury awarded Brannock & Humphries’ client more than $25 million in compensatory damages.
Finally, the ninth highest jury verdict of 2018 involved the death of a University of Florida college student, who was killed in a horrific crash while bicycling in Gainesville. The jury awarded her parents $25 million in compensatory damages. Brannock & Humphries handled the post-trial motions for the Newsome Melton and Gordon & Beason law firms.
