Brannock Humphries & Berman Welcomes New Partner

Samuel J. Salario, Jr., formerly a judge on Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal and a longtime shareholder with Carlton Fields before that, has joined Brannock Humphries & Berman as a partner in the firm’s Tampa office.

Sam brings significant legal and judicial experience to the firm. Well known around the state for his thoughtful opinions as an appellate judge, Sam’s judicial service was marked by his participation in thousands of appeals ranging from complex commercial disputes to personal injury actions to criminal cases. His accomplishments as a judge were recognized by the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, which named him a finalist for recent vacancies on the Supreme Court. 

A highly successful complex-case litigator, Sam’s time on the bench followed a 12-year stint with Carlton Fields, where he rose to prominence as head of the firm’s Securities and Derivative Litigation Practice Group. Before joining Carlton Fields, Sam was counsel at Wilmer Cutler & Pickering – now WilmerHale – in Washington, D.C., and an associate in the D.C. office of Holland & Knight. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable William Terrell Hodges of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

A Tampa native and Jesuit High grad, Sam left Florida to attend American University but returned for law school at the University of Florida College of Law, where he was a member of the Florida Law Review, was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and graduated with honors. In his free time, Sam enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family.
