Celene Humphries Joins Faculty at Christian D. Searcy Voir Dire Institute
For the fourth time in as many years, Brannock Humphries & Berman managing shareholder Celene Humphries served as a member of the faculty at the Florida Justice Association’s prestigious Searcy Voir Dire Institute, a multiday workshop of lectures and breakout workgroups focusing on the art and science of communicating with juries.
Drawing on her experience in almost 40 cases as lead or sole trial counsel and more than 80 trials she has supported as appellate counsel, Celene’s presentation covered some of the issues involved in the jury selection process, including tricky procedural rules and how to avoid juror nondisclosure arguments post-trial. She also joined a three-member faculty panel for a hands-on workshop on picking juries and participated in an evening “fireside chat” with other faculty members of the interactive program in Orlando.
Named after one of Florida’s most prominent trial lawyers, the Searcy Voir Dire Institute offers participants an opportunity to test strategies for communicating with jurors and to learn from some of the most experienced attorneys in the state. Collectively, the faculty have tried hundreds of cases to verdict and have conducted voir dire in virtually every type of civil and criminal case.
